Midway Awards Plus' Blake Gregoire and Jordan Landry are congratulated by Charles Caballero after scoring on Taylor's Marcello's two-run double in the second inning of Post 98's 15-7 loss to Plaquemine Post 167 Wednesday evening.

Midway Awards Plus went ahead 6-5 in the second inning when Taylor Marcello scored after his two-run double but Plaquemine Post 167 scored 10 unanswered runs to take a 15-7 victory in Junior American Legion River League play Wednesday evening at South Louisiana State Fairgrounds' LaLa Regira Field.

Babin-Haynes Post 98 knotted it up in the bottom of the first inning 3-3 on Brandon Burns' two-run double. Charles Caballero hit and Ross Noel drove in a run before Stephen Brocksmith walked Nick Ourso.

Shea Ourso earned the games' first hit in the top half before Midway starter Adam Falcon walked Corey David. Mike Martinez doubled to plate two runs and Wesley Miller's hit crossed another after Ryan Suarez drew a walk to give St. John-based Post 167 a 3-0 lead.

Dylan Burona singled in between walks to Cole Verret and Bryce Berthelot and Kaleb Campesi's bases loaded single gave Plaquemine a 5-3 lead in the top of the second.

Jordan Landry drew a walk to lead off the bottom half and Brocksmith hit Black Gregoire before Marcello laced the double to the left corner off Kade Yarborough to even the score.

Ourso's two-out grounder to second was mishandled to allow Marcello to cross home Ascension Catholic-based Post 98 a 6-5 lead.

Plaquemine knotted it up in the third when Brocksmith took third on a throw over at first and scored on Suarez's groundout.

Landry retired the first four batters he faced in relief of Falcon but surrendered a one-out walk to Campesi in the fifth before Ourso grounded through the left infield and David crushed a two-run double to the left gap. A throw in the dirt plated another run to give Post 167 a 9-6 lead.

Ourso lined to center to open the seventh inning and Martinez laced a one-out double to the left gap to cross a run. Brocksmith's grounder through the left infield plated another before Suarez lined pass third and Miller's fielder's choice made it 12-6.

Landry hit Yarborough and Verret dropped a triple to the right corner to plate two more runs. Burona's groundout crossed Plaquemine's final run to make it 15-6.

Midway added a run in the bottom half when Yarborough walked Taylor Cavalier and an errant throw at second erased a potential double play leaving runners on first and third. David LeBlanc's one-out groundout to first made it 15-7.

Falcon got a no decision giving up six runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three in three innings. Landry took the loss, giving up 10 runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three over four innings.

Marcello was 1 for 4 with two RBI and one run, while Burns was 1 for 2 with two RBI.

Post 98's Taylor Marcello scores in the second inning.
