Donaldsonville 10U All-Stars win Babe Ruth Softball State Championship

Donaldsonville All-Stars 10u showcase their 2008 State Fast Pitch Babe Ruth Softball Championship trophy after defeating West Side 12-0 Sunday for the state title.

South Louisiana State Fairgrounds hosted the 2008 State Fast Pitch Babe Ruth Softball Championship Tournament June 26 - 29 with 38 teams from around the state gathered to compete for a state championship in there respective age groups and divisions. 

After winning the Third Annual Sunshine Classic state warm up tournament, the stage was set for Donaldsonville All-Stars 10u to bid for a state title.

Play began Thursday night with Donaldsonville playing the "Feature Game" against a scrappy Morgan City squad and coming away with an 11-1 victory.

Donaldsonville played St. Charles, who proved to be one of the stronger opponents, Friday night and in a tight game the All-Stars railed to win 5-4.

West Side took on Donaldsonville Saturday in hopes of stopping their successful run but the All-Stars defensive and offensive play overpowered West Side as they fell to the loser's bracket in an 11-1 loss.

West Side fought through the losers bracket to earn the right to play for the state title Sunday morning but Donaldsonvillle's bats where hot, and with strong pitching and tight defense Donaldsonville took the state championship title in an impressive 12-0 win.

With the State Championship under their belts, the team is off to Brusly for the Regional Girls Fast Pitch State Tournament  July 16 - 21. Teams throughout the southern region will gather for the chance to be crowned Regional Champions.
