Knights of Columbus present civic awards

Dwight Wright was awarded "Deputy of the Year" from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

"The amount of dedication and high quality that Dwight serves is excellent," said Webre.

The guest speaker for the night was Renee Rhodes from the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, also known as LOPA. She spoke about the importance of being an organ donor. She said that being an organ donor; one can save up to nine lives. She said currently there are 103,000 people on the waiting list for a transplant.

Tracy Murray provided guests with jambalaya and red beans for the occasion.

Others that were honored were given a Patriotic award for outstanding ROTC services. From Assumption High School, Dillion Daigle was honored. He is a four-year ROTC cadet, and a member of the drill team, and excels in athletics.

From Donaldsonville High School, Tyretta Sams was honored for her excellent service. She has also been a member of the ROTC program for four years.

Cliff Crochet was honored for his seven years as a deputy for Assumption Parish police department.

Assumption Fireman of the year was awarded to Randell Bisoir, and Skylar Templat.

Adam Gautreaux was honored as Fireman of the Year for Ascension Parish.
