The Donaldsonville Fire Department recently took delivery of a new 2010

Dodge Dakota. The vehicle will be assigned to Assistant Chief Larry Lassere to replace the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The cost of the new truck was approximately $20,000 with emergency lights and lettering.Chief Montero said that the funds to purchase the vehicle were from the contract with the parish to provide fire protection to areas outside the city limits.Portions of those funds are dedicated to vehicle acquisition. In the past few years those funds have helped purchase the fire chief's vehicle and contributed $100,000 toward the purchase of the 2007 Ferrara Fire Truck.
