The Donaldsonville Downtown Development District is pleased to announce its time for the incentive grant program again.

Any business is eligible for $2,500 to $10,000 for interior or exterior renovations of the business. The program is a matching grant through the Louisiana Mainstreet Program. A few guidelines are that the building has to be 50 years old or older, and located in the Main Street District that includes all of Railroad Ave., along Mississippi St. and adjourning blocks.

For businesses to apply, they would need to contact Danielle Doyle with the DDD for an application. Doyle will assist applicants to the best of her knowledge.

The application must be postmarked by July 16, and the winners will be notified by Sept. 30. The construction work can begin after Sept. 30 and must be completed by May 31, 2011.

A design consultation is provided free of charge for commercial properties and business owners in the Mainstreet District.

The owner of the building or the tenant with the owner’s permission can approve this grant.

“The grant is competitive and business owners should take advantage of this grant now,” said Doyle.
