Ascension Catholic Bulldogs number two in the State

The Ascension Catholic Baseball team, coached by Todd Landry, Larry Dunn, Ricky Bolotte, and Andy Ramagos, has maintained their ranking of second in the state since March.

Through hard work and dedication the Bulldogs finished the regular season 23-7, with a 10-0 district record giving them the title of District 8 – 1A Champs.

The team took on Ecole Classique on Thursday, April 29 in the Bi-District playoff game.

The State Championship game will be held in Shreveport on Saturday, May 8.

Five seniors lead the Bulldogs: Brandon Burns (designated hitter), Charles Cabellero (pitcher/outfielder), Jordon Landry (left field/pitcher), Taylor Marcello (short stop/pitcher), and Jesse Pizzolato (third base).

Other contributing members of the team are: Taylor Cavalier (center field), Tre’ Daze’ (2nd base), Adam Falcon (first base), Jake LeJeune (catcher), Tyler Simoneaux (right field), John Dupre (utility infield), Luke LeJeune (infield), Timmy Daze’ (outfield), Seth Guercio (infield/pitcher), Alex Olivier (outfield), and Hunter Medine (pitcher/outfield). This baseball team demonstrates outstanding effort and performance every time they step on the field.

Ascension Catholic Bulldog Baseball is no stranger to State playoffs. In 2008 and 2009 the Bulldog’s made it to the quarterfinal games only to be defeated by the

eventual state champions of 2009. This year the team’s motto is “refuse to lose”. The team would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting them and look forward to the continued support throughout the playoff games.
