AMIkids Donaldsonville students earned their way to the AMIkids 2010 Whitewater Rafting and Rappelling event held in Highland and Almond, North Carolina Sunday, August 29 – Friday, September 3. The event was filled with rushing water and mountain tops 4000 ft above sea level.

“To see the kids rappel down a cliff and raft the Nantahala River was very amazing” said Ed Queen, Community Coordinator.  They set-up tents, fished, camped, cooked outdoors, looked at the mountain and the rushing water and say “no way”… the next thing you know – there they are, conquering those fears and experiencing everything around them!

“Trips like this one really help AMIkids kids in a big way.  Our kids are allowed the opportunity to have successes that they never dreamed possible and do things that they never expected they could do” said Malvin Jones, Math and Social Studies Teacher.
