Acadian names Romero to senior vice president of ambulance operations

Acadian Ambulance Service announces the promotion of Jerry Romero to the position of senior vice president of ambulance operations for Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. In this position Romero will oversee the Acadian Ambulance operations for Acadian’s service area and report directly to President and Chief Operating Officer David Pierce. Romero will retain direct responsibility for his existing areas of the Hub City and Southwest Louisiana districts.

Romero began his career at Acadian in 1977 as an EMT and has served through the ranks as paramedic, dispatcher, dispatch supervisor, operations manager, and vice president of operations. Romero was heavily involved in the ambulance operation expansions into Texas, in the coordination of all of Acadian’s hurricane evacuation operations and now serves as incident commander of Acadian’s corporate command structure.

Romero serves on the Louisiana Emergency Medical Unit  Board of Directors, and his extensive involvement in community organizations includes serving as a board and executive committee member of Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, board chair of the Boy Scouts Beau Bassin District, and has served in several capacities with United Way of Acadiana, a past event chairman of "Be a Heartstarter" CPR training event, and as a member of the Lafayette Parish Career and Technical Education Advisory Council. Romero has also served the American Heart Association as chairman of the Louisiana Advocacy Committee, as past board chair of the Lafayette Chapter and chaired the Lafayette Heart Gala.

Romero is a member of the Lafayette Workforce Investment Board, Lafayette High School Health Academy Advisory Board, Lafayette Parish Emergency Management Advisory Committee, Perkins Advisory Committee of South Louisiana Community College, and is a graduate of Leadership Louisiana and Leadership Southwest in Lake Charles.
