Calvaruso wins Sunshine Bass Club tournament

Vic Calvaruso took first place honors in Sunshine Bass Club’s second tournament of 2011. The local anglers competed from the Belle River Landing on Sunday, Feb. 13.

It was a cold, foggy start to the day but the fishermen ended up catching and releasing a number of nice bass.

Calvaruso had the best catch of the day with a five fish limit that weighed in at 16 pounds one ounce. The four pound four ounce bass that he caught was the “Big Bass” of the tournament.

Kevin Falcon had a five bass weighing a total of 13 pounds and 11 ounces for second place. He is currently in the lead in the race for the club’s “Kingfisherman” title after the first two tournaments.

Third place was taken by Stephen Rome with a five fish limit totaling 11 pounds and nine ounces. Brandon Acosta was fourth with 10 pounds 14 ounces. Fifth place went to Charles Waguespack with 10 pounds five ounces. Jerry Chauvin took sixth with eight pounds three ounces.

Sunshine’s next scheduled tournament is set for Sunday, March 20.
