Retired Postal Worker Honored With Parish Proclamation

Staff reports

Prairieville Post Office employee Cynthia Lofton received a parish proclamation certificate Thursday during her retirement ceremony honoring her 32 years of service.

Lofton received the certificate from Parish President Tommy Martinez and Council Chairman Pat Bell proclaiming February 3, 2011 as “Cynthia Lofton Day at the Prairieville Post Office.”

Post Master Benny Daigle said Lofton began her employment at the post office in June of 1978. He said she was the 2009 recipient of the “One Million Miles Safe Driver Award,” an award of the U.S. Postal Service and the National Safety Council.

“I want to travel,” Lofton said, answering co-workers after the presentation. “Plus I want to enjoy my hobbies like embroidering.”
