Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District asks residents for cooperation

Staff reports

Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District is asking bayou side residents within the 6.2 mile Dredge Project not to perform any improvements to their bayou side property near or within the footprint of the project. BLFWD wants to insure that citizens do not place improvements in a construction area prior to final completion of the project. If a property owner wishes to make improvements after the project is complete in mid 2012, the property owner must apply for a receive a permit from the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District along with any other governing bodies having jurisdiction.

The BLFWD would also like to advise boaters that Bayou Lafourche between Donaldsonville and Belle Rose remains CLOSED TO ALL BOAT TRAFFIC until the project is complete. The construction site from the boat ramp to the Union Pacific Railroad in Donaldsonville is also off limits until project completion.
