First in Print: Stash the Trash needs you
Donaldsonville Downtown Development District is hosting “Stash the Trash” on Saturday, April 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tammy Dale is the chairperson for this event and her goal is for this is the start of an ongoing effort to clean up downtown Donaldsonville and then to spread to other parts of town, yards, and neighborhoods.
“I would like to see a curriculum taught is schools on stewardship, where learners will explain to their families the word stewardship and how to help take care of the earth, by maintaining a cleaner community,” said Dale. I would like to see our businesses, corporations, governments, churches, schools; organizations, and community leaders take a stand and come together to have a zero tolerance for this unacceptable behavior.
The outcome is to become a no loitering city and for residents to take pride in the community they live in.
All ages volunteers and groups are needed for trash bashers, painters, power washers and weed eaters, and block captains.
If you would like to help out or give a donation for the cost of cleaning supplies, refreshments for volunteers, or support, please contact Tammy Dale at 225-717-1820 or Missy Jandura, Executive Director for the Downtown Development District at 225-323-2555 or email directorddd@gmail.com
