Council sends Bullion Crossing PUD forward

Staff reports

The Ascension Parish Council approved more planning and a forward trajectory for the controversial 84-acre Bullion Crossing Planned Unit Development at its regular meeting last week.

The council had returned the project to Planning and Zoning at its last meeting for another review.

With the action in Donaldsonville, the PUD project moves forward again , and could eventually see a developer proposed public school built on the site.

Councilman Todd Lambert said the PUD had already been approved and that the current direction was how the council needed to proceed.

Councilman George Valentine concurred, saying “One thing about this PUD is it has been approved already.

Resident Kathryn Goppelt criticized the council decision. “Tonight the parish will approve a PUD which is not consistent with code.”

 In other business, the council:

• Changed the date of its April 21 regular meeting to April 19.

• Issued proclamations declaring April Flood Awareness Month, CASA Child Abuse Awareness Month, Bike Month in Ascension Parish, and Autism Awareness Month in Ascension.
