Who inspired you and how?

My parents inspired me to always do my best, give my all and never give up.

What are the greatest challenges in your field?

Staying focused on what is important and avoiding the distractions that can get me off task.

Daily Duties: Processing checks, Section 8, answering the telephone, helping the public, processing purchase orders, handling insurance questions & claims, and assisting others when needed.

What’s something about your line of work that most people don’t know?

My title might say Financial Assistant, but dealing with my daily accounts payable duties is not all I have to do. If my help is needed elsewhere in the office I am there to help collect payments, help the customers with their needs, help with the Bright Future program, and arranging for minor building repairs to be done for City Hall and the DMV when needed. I, along with my co-workers have also helped the Mayor and Council prepare for Hurricane Gustav that included ordering supplies, getting rental equipment, filling sandbags, arranging meals for the workers, and helping with the aftermath from Hurricane Gustav.

What is a memorable moment in my career and why?

I have so many memories from the time I started working for the city until now. The memories are both good and bad but I can tell you that they have made me a stronger person.
