Cruisin' the avenue this weekend

A true Donaldsonville Tradition. Many people remember Cruisin’ the Avenue on a Sunday afternoon.

Back before cable television, over scheduling kids events, working too much overtime. Neighbors in

Donaldsonville and Ascension Parish love just driving in a loop and stopping to visit. Gossiping and

checking out each others cars was the thing to do. Parking behind 1st and Last Chance by the banana

plants started many romances and inspired many marriages. Life was a bit easier.

Donaldsonville Downtown Development District and the Main Street Donaldsonville Programs mission is to revitalize downtown businesses, homes, bring new businesses to our downtown area. Volunteers of the DDD are proud to host a festival in Louisiana Square in this honor of this downtown tradition.

The festival will have classic cars, cooks, crafters and great Donaldsonville Music.

Additional assistance from the parish, city and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to ensure our family friendly fundraiser. The open container ordinance will be enforced for our fundraising area of Louisiana Square. Please no coolers, as beverage sales are needed to fund this charity event.

We are still looking for 5 more cooks or vendors to feed the masses on Sunday. Please visit your local restaurants and merchants downtown to show your support every day, especially this weekend.

Volunteers can check in at the DDD/Main Street Donaldsonville offices at215 Railroad Avenue on the days of the event. We appreciate any additional volunteers who step forward on the weekend.
