FIRST IN PRINT: DDD needs your help

Every year on the third of July, Donaldsonville residents and surrounding neighbors gather for Fireworks on the River in Crescent Park. It’s the type of event where one can bring the whole family and bring out the lawn chairs to enjoy a family friendly celebration of our nation’s birth. Good food, music, and events for children are all included.

In the past, the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District (DDD) has sponsored the event, but with a decline in funds, the DDD seeks help in sponsorships to keep this event going.

“The event is scheduled to go on, but we are asking for help to offset costs,” said DDD Executive Director Missy Jandura.

“ The 3rd of July is a celebration of what is special in small town America. Our community is not only proud of its treasured heritage, but also in the fact that Main Street America is a vital center of community. We want to invite our neighbors and businesses to embrace its American roots. The historic district is an ideal place to open a new business. The volunteers of Main Street Donaldsonville and the DDD are working hard for our neighbors and new friends. Fundraisers such as this help our programs move forward to do more in our mission to stimulate local economy.”

July 3rd Fireworks on the River will be held again in Crescent Park, Donaldsonville on July 3 from 5- 10 p.m.

It is the only fireworks show in Ascension Parish, each year more neighbors join in this community celebration. Join us for this fundraiser for the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District and Main Street Donaldsonville Programs. The mission is to attract attention to our beautiful downtown district as customers, merchants and residents. Donaldsonville touts the 2nd largest historic district in Louisiana.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Music will begin approximately 7 p.m. Please be sure to come early to enjoy the festivities and booths. No outside coolers will be allowed in the park.

“Main Street Donaldsonville greatly needs your economic support in sponsorships and vendor rentals for this community event to continue. Food vendors can serve any items, except beverages,” said Missy. “Sponsorships and vendors are being recruited at this time. Your donations are great appreciated to offset the costs of the premier Ascension Parish fireworks celebration.”
