The American Legion Post 98 held their annual installation of officers banquet Tuesday night in Donaldsonville.
The 2011-2012 American Legion Post 98 Commander is Charles J. Breaux Jr.
The Master of Ceremony was C. J. Brimmer.
The guest speaker for this event was Warden Bobby Webre of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. He dedicated his speech to Frank Buckle, who was known to be the last surviving veteran before his death in February of this year.
Webre stated the American Legion wrote the first draft, which later became known as the G. I. Bill.
He quoted “In the legion, a veteran is a legion no matter if they are black, white, male or female”. He also stated that he believe peace can be achieved through strength.
