Man gets 15 years in distribution case
A 29-year-old Lake Charles man arrested in January’s Operation Get a Real Job sting in Assumption Parish was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison, according to a news release from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s office.
Lorenzo Daggs was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to distribution of a Schedule II drug.
He was arrested for distribution of crack cocaine in a Jan. 14 undercover drug sting that resulted in the arrest of more than 40 people, according to Assistant District Attorney Thomas D. Daigle
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office issued arrest warrants for the suspects after a nine-month undercover investigation. Including Daggs, 15 defendants have pleaded guilty and one was tried and found guilty, Daigle said.
Some cases involved undercover buys of various prescription pills including Xanax, hydrocodone, oxycodone and amphetamine, deputies said.
