DPS: Flying High with Learning

On Monday, Aug. 15, Donaldsonville Primary students and teachers were in for a treat. Pilot David Caruba flew his plane over the campus to get kids excited about positive behavior.
The students anxiously waited to release over 450 red balloons into the air. As part of the positive behavior program, students selected one goal that they would work hard on to accomplish during the school year.
Some student’s goals read, “I want to read 100 books,” and one said “I want to make my parents proud.”
Mayor Leroy Sullivan stopped by to give the kids some encouraging words to start the year off right. Raymond Carbo, representative from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars stopped by as well. Lauthaught Delaney Jr. told kids to “be all that they can be,” and ensured students success this year and years to come.
The students, faculty, and staff would like to thank the Donaldsonville High Tiger mascot for coming out, C.F. Industries, LeBlanc’s Payless Food Stores, Mayor Sullivan, Flowers by Teapot, Ourso’s Flower Shop, Parish President Tommy Martinez, and State Farm Insurance Agent Keith Davis.
