Mother’s concern leads to son’s arrest
A mother concerned her 15-year-old son was involved in a house burglary surrendered him to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies said in a news release Friday that the youth confessed to committing the burglary on Daggs Street in Belle Rose and was arrested and booked Thursday on one count of simple burglary.
Sheriff’s deputies said their investigation led them to another 15-year-old, who they also arrested and booked on a single count of simple burglary.
Residents had reported Wednesday that two youths were seen going into a house on Daggs Street and throwing weapons out of a back window, deputies said.
Deputies looking into the report found a shotgun and rifle near the burglarized home.
Both boys, who were not named Friday because they are minors, were released to the custody of their parents, deputies said.
An investigation into the case continues and additional arrests are expected, deputies said.
