Wiley remains Sheriff without opposition

According to the state commissioners of elections, Murphy J. Painter, former state Alcohol and Tobacco Control Commissioner, qualified for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s race on last Thursday, but withdrew early Monday morning.

Louis Boudreaux, a second challenger, also withdrew his name after qualifying.
