AMIkids earn whitewater rafting and rappelling trip

Eight AMIkids Donaldsonville students earned their way to the AMIkids 2011 Whitewater Rafting and Rappelling event held in Highland and Almond, North Carolina Sunday, September 11 – Friday, September 16, 2011. The event was filled with rushing water and mountain tops 6000 ft above sea level.
“To see the kids rappel down a mountain and raft the Nantahala River was very amazing,” said Malvin Jones, Certified Math and Social Studies Teacher. They set-up tents, camped, and cooked outdoors. They all look at the mountain and say “no way am I rappelling down that mountain”… the next thing you know – there they are, conquering those fears and experiencing everything around them!
“Trips like this one really help AMIkids kids in a big way. They learn more about team work and how you need one another to accomplish a task in the mountains. Our kids are allowed the opportunity to have successes that they never dreamed possible and do things that they never expected they could do” said Joshua Riley, Case Manager and Whitewater Rafting Guide.
