Capitol City Family Health Center breaks ground in Donaldsonville

The Capitol City Family Health Center in Donaldsonville broke ground officially on last Thursday, August 26. They will provide preventive and primary medical services including: podiatry, preventive, restorative, and emergency dental services, and mental health counseling.

The entire community can benefit from its services because it is a federally qualified health center. The center will accept most private health insurances, along with Medicare and Medicaid will provide a sliding fee discount for people who have no insurance.

Some other services the center will be able to provide are PAP exams, prostate screenings, and other cancer screenings, sports and school physicals, treatment for diabetes and hypertension, and child and sick child medical care.

This center has been in the works for the last four years.

“I am glad we can finally have something like this in Donaldsonville for our residents,” said Parish Councilman Oliver Joseph.

The facility is located across the street from the Donaldsonville Public Health Unit on Catalpa Street and Hwy 1.

The people who made this facility possible are Former State Representative Roy Quezaire, Rep. Michael Jackson, Parish President Tommy Martinez, Councilman Oliver Joseph, the Capitol City Family Health Center Board of Directors: Louisiana Division of Administration, Capital Outlay Section, and the City of Donaldsonville.
