Rubicon makes donation to Ascension Fund

Rubicon, Inc.’s Plant Manager, Mark Dearman and
Shannon Arceneaux, Manager, Human Resources and Public Affairs, donated $25,000 to
The Ascension Fund on October 3, 2011.
“This donation is a tangible sign of Rubicon’s commitment to education in Ascension
Parish. We at Rubicon hope that this donation will provide a significant help to the
efforts of the Ascension Fund,” said Dearman.
The Ascension Fund is an endowed fund established by the private sector to encourage
excellence in public education in Ascension Parish. The Fund is a project of the Gonzales
Rotary Club with the assistance of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. Grants are given
to public school teachers on a competitive basis with the intent to motivate innovative
and creative ideas in the classroom.
The Fund’s original endowment of $1M was established in 1991, now celebrating its 20th
anniversary, the Fund announces its second capital campaign. Its goal is to double its
endowment in order to keep up with the rising demand for funding.
Ascension Parish is the fastest growing parish in the state, and there are more than
double the number of students in the public school system now than there were 20
years ago.
“The Ascension Fund relies on support from the entire community for improving
the academic quality of education in Ascension Parish,” said Elizabeth Nealy, Ph.D.,
Ascension Fund, Executive Director. “With the help from business leaders like Rubicon
we are better able to accomplish our goals,” Nealy added.
