This Saturday, Nov. 12, the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District (DDD) will host its annual Avenue Evening Stroll from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. along Railroad Avenue.

Various shops and businesses will be open to the public at extended hours for Christmas shopping, socializing, and to visit the restaurants and enjoy local music.

“We are encouraging residents to shop local and have a good time,” said Executive Director of the DDD, Missy Jandura.

According to Jandura, several local artists will display artwork along the avenue, and two horse carriages will venture back and forth up the avenue for those who want to ride.

Several residents will appear in various period clothing dating back to the 1800s.

“As a part of the stroll, the DDD is selling Christmas ornaments as a fundraiser this year,” said Jandura.

Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy an outside movie at the River Road African American Museum that evening.

This event is in conjunction with Main to Main of the National Mainstreet Program. “Donaldsonville is proud to be the only Historic District and Mainstreet in Ascension Parish,” Jandura said.
