Staff reports

On last Thursday, Editor-in-Chief, Allison Hudson, spoke to students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Journalism department. Hudson was invited to speak by the National Association of Black Journalists program on campus.

Hudson offered insight about the ever so changing print journalism world. She also advised students to become engaged with their surroundings and take advantage of opportunities afforded to them.

Students who were broadcast majors, public relations majors, and print majors all received tips on how to be successful in the business.

“In media, it is necessary to write for newspaper and network with others,” said Hudson.

Hudson expressed the importance of utilizing professors and getting internships that would help students along the way.

Hudson has addressed many crowds in her short career span out of college. She has addressed students at her own alma mater Xavier University, various community colleges, local high schools, and other groups and organizations.
