Troy Leboeuf

The Louisiana Development Ready Community (LDRC) Donaldsonville committee presented their strategic plan for the city to the council during their regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday evening.

The committee has been working since May on this project to move the city further. The strategic plan report was a collaborative effort for the city of Donaldsonville, the Mayor's office, councilmen, Louisiana Economic Development Corporation, Ready City Committee, Chamber of Commerce, the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District along with business leaders and community residents.

LDRC committee created a vision and mission statement for the city in the process of creating the strategic plan. The vision statement is, Donaldsonville- A community with a past and a plan for the future. The objective for the mission statement is, Partner with the community to deliver adequate services, preserve our rich history, and to protect and enhance the quality of life in Donaldsonville for the future.

The strategic plan includes short term and long term goals for a marketing and communication strategy, economic development strategy, community facilities strategy, education and workforce strategy, quality of life strategy, and government services and organizations strategy.

The plan also includes action items for each goal and what committee is responsible for completing the projects.

This plan is a work in progress and will take ongoing efforts by each committee to move Donaldsonville forward.
