Ascension Catholic receives certificate from Parish

Team members of the Ascension Catholic High School Cross Country team received Ascension Parish Certificates of Achievement during the Parish Council meeting on Feb. 7 for being 2011 Louisiana Class 1A State Champions.

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez presented the certificates to the team members led by Coach Rocky Capello, who was also named 2011 Louisiana Class 1A Cross Country Coach of the Year.

“On behalf of the Ascension Catholic Cross Country team and our school, we certainly appreciate the invitation honoring the kids who worked so hard this year,” Coach Capello said. “This is the first time we’ve ever won a state championship in cross country.”
