Letter from the Editor: Was New Orleans Saints’ Head Coach Payton’s appeal a shocker?

On last Thursday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell listened to New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton’s appeal to the harsh punishment Goodell placed on Payton that affected the entire team, as well as fans.

After much deliberation Goodell upheld the penalties that will take place April 16.

Payton will begin his yearlong suspension and general manager Micky Loomis eight game suspension and Joe Vitt six game suspension.

The fact that Goodell showed no remorse to the appeals should not be a shocker to anyone. However, as a die hard Saints fan, I was hopeful that he would have at least lessened the punishment.

I have a feeling that the upcoming season will be one different from anything we have ever witnessed.

Now, we have to take this harsh reality and find a way to make it positive. One thing about the city of New Orleans, and the entire Saints nation, we stick together no matter what. With that being said, Goodell has to know that this fight is not over.

The Super Bowl XLVII will be held in New Orleans, and if the Saints do not have a great season, I have a feeling things may get out of hand.

Despite this major setback, ‘Who Dat’fans will still cheer their team on, no matter what!
