Relay For Life Slated in Ascension Parish

The 2012 Relay For Life of Ascension Parish will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2012, said American Cancer Society community representative Lindsay Turner.

Turner made the announcement during the presentations portion of the Ascension Parish Council meeting on March 15.

Turner said the event will take place from 3 p.m. till 3 a.m. at the Tanger Outlet Center parking lot. The opening ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

Tanger Outlet Center is located at 2410 Tanger Boulevard in Gonzales near the La. 30/I-10 intersection.

Turner said funding raised during the Ascension Parish Relay for Life goes directly towards helping cancer patients from this parish in four different ways.

“We’re helping people to stay well, helping people to get well, finding cures for cancer and fighting back,” Turner said.

Turner said funding would go towards detecting cancer in patients, and attack the cancer at its most treatable stage.

“Without Relay for Life we wouldn’t have the funding to provide many of these services that affect so many in this community,” Turner said. “We thank you for your participation in the past and right now we’d like to encourage everyone to come out.”
