Ascension Catholic Boys Track Team Wins Region III - 1A Championship Girls finish 9th

The Ascension Catholic Track team competed at the Region III 1-A  Track Meet on Tuesday, April 24. The Boys team finished in 1st place. The boys were led by Collin Rowland 1st place in the Javelin (161' 3"), 2nd place in the 110m Hurdles (16.25) and 2nd place in the 300m Hurdles (41.55). Rowland also joined with teammates Thomas Gros, Alex Olivier, and Jesse Hood to win 3rd place in the Boys 4 x 400m Relay (3:40.45).  Zach Capello was named Most Valuable Track Athlete for winning 1st place in the 3200m Run (10:35), 2nd place in the 1600m Run (4:39), and tied for 2nd place in the 800m Run (2:06). Other Regional meet qualifiers were: Jesse Hood tied for 2nd in the 800 meter Run (2:06), and 3rd in the 1600m Run (4:44). Alex Olivier 1st in the 400m Run (51.2), Trey Capello 3rd in the 3200m Run (10:59), and Thomas Gros was 3rd in the Javelin (146'1").

The Girls team finished in 9th place. Leading the Girls was Madison Canatella 2nd place in the Pole Vault (8' 6"), and Stephanie Breaux 3rd place 3200m Run (12:53).

The above qualifiers will now compete at the LHSAA State Track meet on Thursday, May 3 at LSU.
