Lemann building receives facelift

Downtown Donaldsonville has been seeing numerous updates to buildings and other projects over the past few weeks, and the historic Lemann building located on the corner of Railroad Avenue and Mississippi Street is no exception.

Last week, Donaldsonville Downtown Development District volunteers and Teach for America volunteers gathered together to tackle their biggest project yet! The Lemann building is soaking up a new coat of paint to its exterior and volunteers are having fun in the mean time.

“Although it was hot, I had a great time working with the teachers and revitalizing our historic district,” said Brent Landry who spearheaded this project.

The project will take almost two weeks to complete do to rain and schedule conflicts of volunteers, but “we’ve already received numerous compliments from people in the community saying how much better it looks,” said volunteer Tammy Dale.

“We are most gracious to have all of the volunteers, we could not have done this without them, and also a big thanks to the Lemann family for allowing us to do this project,” said Missy Jandura, Executive Director of the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District.

This project is not the first and will not be the last for the volunteers of Donaldsonville Downtown Development District, so if you would like to be involved, contact Missy Jandura at 225-323-2555.
