Obit: Wilbert J. Coupel

Wilbert Joseph Coupel, loving husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2012. He was a native of Napoleonville and a resident of Brusly St. Martin. He was born on October 22, 1933. Wilbert was a hardworking, fun loving person best known for his sense of humor and "tall tales". He was a veteran of the US army, small business owner and school bus driver. He had a natural talent for playing all types of musical instruments, especially the guitar. He is survived by brother Dudley Coupel; daughter Darlene C. Diez and husband Tony Diez; three sons Warren Coupel Sr. and wife Tammy B. Coupel, Faron Coupel, and Nathan Coupel and wife Jane D. Coupel; seven grandchildren Christopher Diez and wife Becky S. Diez, Anthony Diez, Christy Diez, Warren Coupel Jr. and companion Holly Hassler, Brandi Coupel, Matthew and Justin Coupel; and four great grandchildren Kaine, Cadence, and Hunter Coupel, and Saige Berthelot. Preceded in death by parents Vital Coupel and Zoé Sauce Coupel; wife Geraldine Hebert Coupel; sister Dallas C. Braud; and two brothers Desiré and Clifton Coupel. Pallbearers will be Warren Coupel Sr., Faron Coupel, Nathan Coupel, Christopher Diez, Anthony Diez, Matthew Coupel, and Christy Diez.

Visitation was held on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville from 5:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. and resumed on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose at 11:00 a.m. Entombment followed in church mausoleum.
