Plaucheville man killed in conveyer belt accident at Impala’s Burnside Terminal

Staff report

Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Col. Bobby Webre reported 52-year-old Nolan Cormier of Plaucheville was killed Sunday morning at approximately 9 a.m. after getting caught in a conveyer belt at Burnside Terminal.

“We can confirm that an accident occurred at Impala’s Burnside Terminal in Louisiana in which a contractor was fatally injured,” Impala said in a released statement Sunday.

In spite of the fast intervention by the medical services, the contractor was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Gonzales, Louisiana.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Operations are currently suspended at the Burnside plant.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this difficult time,” Impala said in the statement.
