DARROW – Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced Friday residents of Darrow are now using Ascension Water (Baton Rouge Water) as their source for water service.

Brian Martinez, director of the Ascension Parish Public Utilities Department, said the change over took place at 9:15 a.m. Thursday. Residents of the Darrow area had been using water supplied by St. James Parish Water District.

“In the past, Darrow residents have had issues with supply interruptions of the St. James Water supply line to Ascension Parish,” Director Martinez said. “There have been frequent boil notices and stoppage of water service for up to 24-hour periods.”

Director Martinez said the parish administration executed a three-year usage agreement for bulk water from Ascension Water.

“Residents should see an increase in their water pressure, and a softer feel of the water due to the mineral makeup,” Director Martinez said. “Frequent water stoppages are not expected to occur any longer.”
