French Students Recognized at Parish Council Meeting

Two French students visiting friends from St. Amant were honored at the Ascension Parish Council meeting on July 18. The students participated in an international student exchange program and attended St. Amant High School. GONZALES – Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez recognized two visiting high school students from Marseille, France during the July 18 parish council meeting by reading proclamations making them honorary citizens of Ascension Parish.

President Martinez presented Pauline Becherel and Marie Blain with parish proclamations stating the students were honorary citizens of Ascension Parish and each was to serve as honorary parish president on July 18.

Becherel and Blain participated in an international student exchange program and completed their studies at St. Amant High School.

The students were also presented with keys to the parish and parish lapel pins given by Parish Councilman Randy Clouatre.

Having returned to Ascension Parish, Becherel was visiting St. Amant High graduate Whitney Clouatre and staying with Whitney’s parents, Councilman Randy and Regina Clouatre while Blain was visiting St. Amant graduate Laura Siqueiros and staying with her parents Larry and Eva Siqueiros.
