APSO drug investigation leads to multiple arrests

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Tony Bacala reports multiple arrests following a two-week undercover investigation into drug dealers in Donaldsonville.

Ascension Parish Narcotics Detectives began their investigation on July 25, and on July 30, during the investigation, detectives observed Neilda Coupel making what appeared to be a drug transaction as she sat in her car in the parking lot of an unnamed local business in Donaldsonville.

Narcotics detectives later stopped the vehicle Coupel was driving and found her to be in possession of Heroin, hypodermic needles, and other drug paraphernalia.

During the course of this investigation, narcotics detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant on Marishell “Koolaid” Ealem for Conspiracy to distribute Heroin. Ealem was arrested on the outstanding drug warrant on August 10 and was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

On July 31-August 1, undercover narcotics agents were able to make several purchases of Heroin, Cocaine, Morphine, Hydrocodone, and Synthetic Marijuana. As a result of the undercover purchases of drugs, Ascension Parish Narcotics Detectives were able to obtain arrests warrants on the following street level drug dealersfrom Donaldsonville: Travis Foster, Aquendes Desira, Zachary Henry, Jeffrey Johnson, and Henry Knockum.

All were arrested with the exception of Knockum, who is now a wanted person.

Neilda Coupel, 26, of 417 Shell Beach Road, Pierre Part, was arrested and charged with possession of schedule I CDS, possession of schedule II CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and her bond was set by Judge Turner in the amount of $10,342.50.

Travis Foster, 28, of 301 West 8th St., Apt B, Donaldsonville, was arrested and charged with distribution of schedule II CDS. He is currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond has been set by Judge Tureau for $25,000.

Aquendes Desira, 22, of 915 Nolan St., Donaldsonville, was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of distribution of two counts schedule I CDS and distribution of schedule II CDS. Bond was set at $75,000 by Judge Tureau.

Marishell Ealem, 27, of 123 First St., Donaldsonville, was arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy and distribution of schedule I CDS. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond was set by Judge Tureau in the amount of $35,000.

Zachary Henry, 27, of 722 St. Vincent St., Donaldsonville was arrested and charged with distribution of schedule I CDS. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where his bond was set by Judge Tureau in the amount of $15,000.

Jeffery Johnson Jr., 34, of 304 W. Eight St., Donaldsonville, was arrested and charged with distribution of schedule I CDS, distribution of schedule II CDS, possession of schedule I CDS, and flight from officer. He is currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.

Henry Knockum, 41, of 702 Fifth St., Donaldsonville is wanted for distribution of schedule II CDS.
