The Donaldsonville Downtown Development District, MainStreet and other volunteers are joining efforts Saturday morning to clean up the city. Done quarterly, volunteers from different entities get down on all fours and pull weeds, plant flowers, pick up trash and take out old junk from office buildings around the city.

Volunteers will meet Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall on Railroad Avenue to pick up supplies. Missy Jandura, Executive Director of the DDD asks for more student volunteers to help make the event a success.

The Capital Area Recycling Council will be also be on hand helping collect computers, monitors, printers, speakers, power cords, keyboards, mice, VGA cables, other cords/cables, VHS players, DVD players, stereo equipment, CD players, phone systems, cell phones, video game systems (Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) and anything with a circuit board.

Volunteers will take just about just about anything off of your hands except for TVs, copy machines or any household appliances (microwaves, refrigerators, etc.).

The CACRC wipes all hard drives clean whether it is requested or not during the first 24 hours it is at the location. If hard drives are inoperable they are physically destroyed. Certificates of Destruction are available upon request.
