Lady Bulldogs’ softball dominating 8-1A
The no. 2 ranked Ascension Catholic softball team (16-4, 9-0) continues to dominate, recording three more wins to its district record last week. On April 1, the Lady Bulldogs beat St. Charles Catholic and returned home on April 3 to sweep East Iberville in a double header.
Sophomore pitcher Julia Beck continues her dominance on the mound while sophomore Rae’ Shaun Malancon powers the offense with some big bats. Against East Iberville, Malancon popped out her seventh and eight home runs off the year.
Head coach Brandy Hahn said she’s proud of the way her team is playing right now.
Against East Iberville every single person in the lineup got a chance to play and contribute.
“They all executed the way we expected them to and it was a group effort and I’m just really proud that all 21 of our girls were able to get out here and play,” Hahn said.
She said it’s extremely important to get the younger players to get some time on the field.
“It gives them a chance to see different types of pitching and defenses,” Hahn said. “The more reps you get the more comfortable you get and the better you get. Anytime we get an opportunity to get our younger players in we try to do it.”
The Lady Bulldogs will next play St. John at home on April 10. Game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
