DHS JROTC hosts First Responder’s Luncheon
The Donaldsonville High School JROTC program hosted its annual First Responder’s Luncheon Friday at the school’s JROTC Gym. Sergeant Robert Oates said the cadets host the luncheon to show appreciation to those who serve and keep the community safe.
“It’s a way to teach them to honor our servicemen and women who aren’t necessarily our fighting in war protecting our borders, but those who keep us safe locally,” Sgt. Oates said.
The JROTC cadets served Jambalaya and White Beans with a choice of beverage and also shared cake.
Members of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office attended the luncheon including Captain Dean Werner. Also the Donaldsonville Fire Department and Chief Chuck Montero attended the luncheon and expressed gratitude to the JROTC for hosting them annually.
The cadets also fixed over 20 plates to take to those employees at the Ascension Parish Jail.
Sgt. Oates added, “We look forward to doing this again next year and we hope to see more come out as they are all welcome.”
