Smiley Anders, columnist for the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate newspaper, spoke to the Donaldsonville Rotary Club at its weekly luncheon at Café Lafourche.

Anders began with a few opening jokes and ended in the same as the Rotarians laughed at his closing props he was given and made over the years.

Anders also talked about his personal work outside of the newspaper business which included his latest book, “A laughing matter.”  The book not only contains funny stories from Anders’ columns published between 1991 and 2000, but also an account of his life, from his early days Natchez, Miss., to his high school and college days in Baton Rouge and his journey in journalism that culminated in his award-winning column.
