Trash stashed successfully

STAFF REPORT @dvillechief
Councilman Charles Brown, Sr. and Mayor Leroy Sullivan, Sr. pick up tires behind the carwash in Donaldsonville to recycle as part of Stash the Trash clean up Saturday.

The Donaldsonville Downtown Development District, MainStreet Donaldsonville, city leaders and volunteers met at City Hall Saturday morning to continue their quarterly efforts of keeping the city beautiful.

Whether it was Tammy Dale of Capital One Bank, Glenda Shaheen of GSA and Associates, or Emmanuel Baptist and Greater Israel Baptist Church, all hands were involved in stashing the trash around Donaldsonville.

The group broke off into teams where Mayor Leroy Sullivan and his councilman rode to the back of town to pick up old tires from the ditches, some teams tackled Louisiana Square Park and Crescent Park, and many put all hands on deck to spruce up the old Mistretta Building on Railroad Avenue.

Missy Jandura, Executive Director of MainStreet Donaldsonville, said on the official FaceBook page, “Thank you volunteers! And our city councilmen volunteers! (It was a) wonderful, successful event because there [were] people willing to put in elbow grease and serve their community!”

“Our city may not be rich in funds... But we are rich in fellowship!”

“Mainstreet Donaldsonville and Donaldsonville DDD thank you, thank you, thank you.”
