Two Belle Rose men were arrested for burglary and theft for stealing from his place of employment, Domino’s Pizza in Donaldsonville late Thursday night.

Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said deputies received a call from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office alerting them they had two subjects, identified as Karnell Williams, 21 and Devin Herbert, 19, detained on a traffic stop. During the course of the stop, shortly after midnight, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies discovered the two occupants may have been involved in a burglary at Domino’s Pizza located at 37200 Hwy 3089 in Donaldsonville.

Deputies converged on Domino’s Pizza and did in fact discover the business had been burglarized. Additionally, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives revealed that Williams, an employee at Domino’s Pizza, had conducted regular closing duties of the business Thursday night. Prior to leaving Domino’s Pizza Williams had propped the rear door open. He later returned with his cousin, Herbert, and made entry through the rear door and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the business’s safe and cash registers, Chief Bacala said.

Karnell Williams, 21, of 138 Virginia Street, and Devin Herbert, 19, of 109 Virginia Street, both of Belle Rose, were arrested and charged with simple burglary and felony theft.

Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where a bond has not been set yet.

This is an on-going investigation and more charges may be pending.
