DHS Air Force JROTC serves Veterans

The Donaldsonville High School Air Force JRTOC, led by TSGT. Robert Oates, served the Donaldsonville Veterans on Friday, Nov. 14. The young cadets helped cook jambalaya and white beans and served over a dozen Veterans who served in the United States Armed Services. The JROTC hosts the event annually and expects to continue the tradition for those who served.

“It’s a great opportunity for our kids here to interact with Veterans, and especially here in Donaldsonville where we have some who have served in World War II,” TSGT. Oates said.

TSGT. Oates said he always tries to expose the Air Force JROTC to things that’ll benefit them in the schools and out of the schools, such as presenting the colors at New Orleans Pelicans games, fund raisers at LSU football games on Saturdays, and annual trips in the spring out of the state.
