Assumption Sheriff offering reward for Labadieville homicide

LABADIEVILLE- Assumption Parish Sheriff, Mike Waguespack reported that on Tuesday, February 17 at approximately 9:14 p.m., the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a telephone call from a concerned citizen stating that there was a male subject lying in a yard, in the 100 block of Violet Street, located in the Labadieville community, and was possibly intoxicated.

Upon the arrival of patrol deputies, it was determined that the subject was unresponsive and rescue units were requested. 

Once medical units arrived and the subject was further evaluated, it was determined that the subject was deceased.  The victim is identified as a 20 year old male named Daquan Rainey.  Rainey had recently moved to Assumption Parish with relatives and was a former resident of Houma.  Mr. Rainey was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office and his body has been transported to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death. 

The facts in regards to the manner of Rainey’s death are unknown at this time and has been ruled a homicide.  Detectives with the sheriff’s office are investigating this crime.
