Gonzales Street to close to through traffic for culvert replacement

GONZALES – Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez announced today West Main Street in Gonzales will be closed to through traffic on Monday, Feb. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. so crews can replace drainage culverts that cross under the street.

Parish officials said crews will replace culverts underneath Main Street, just west of the Bon Terre Subdivision access bridge that crosses New River.

The work location on Main Street is approximately three-tenths of a mile from its intersection with La. 429/Cornerview Road.

Residents on Main Street may either have access from the west at Cornerview Road, or from the east at La. 44/North Burnside Avenue.

Residents of Bon Terre Subdivision will have access from the eastern side of the bridge.
