Matt Weil was a life long resident of Donaldsonville and moved to Houma a few years ago. When he remarried his current wife Sharon, Weil and his dad J Weil ran J’s Drive Inn for years until it closed after his father’s death. Weil started working for RES contractors as a purchasing agent.

Weil’s family all reside in Donaldsonville; his mother Connie, sister Leila, brother Eric, sister J Bird Long, brother David and oldest sister Claire reside in Baton Rouge.

Weil was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2014. He is continuing to treat and needs help with medical bills and expenses. The family is trying to raise $50,000 with a Food Fest planned for Sunday, March 1 at Café Lafourche from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The food fest will have some of the finest foods with all drinks included for $100 a person. There will be a small auction around 2 p.m. for items donated by local organizations.

Tickets can be purchased from First and Last Chance, Café Lafourche, Law Office of Marvin Gros, Law Office of Chuck Long. The family and personal friends of Matt Weil “really appreciate the support Donaldsonville has shown thus far.”
