Donaldsonville native to be installed as pastor of Oklahoma church

The Shiloh Baptist Church announced that the search process for a new pastor has ended and the vacancy has been filled by the Reverend Vernell L. Bell, MDiv. Rev. Bell was elected by the congregation on December 3, 2014. Rev Bell is originally from Donaldsonville, Louisiana and has resided in Oklahoma for the past 34 years.

 Vernell Bell is the son of the late Victor Bell and Sylvia Collins Bell of Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Pastor Bell was licensed in December 1989 and ordained August 1991 by the late Pastor Percy E. Truehill at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Hwy 1 South, whose current pastor is the Rev. Charles Brown.

Rev. Bell has served as the Pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Coweta, Oklahoma for the past 11 years. Bell has also had a distinguished career as Academic Dean of the T. Oscar Chappelle Sr. Oklahoma School of Religion, Adjunct professor for Oklahoma Baptist University and the historic Langston University. Currently, he serves as Chaplain II for Oklahoma Department of Corrections, in Vinita, Oklahoma.

Pastor Bell is a graduate of Oklahoma State University at Okmulgee (A. B. 1984), and Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma (B.A. 1994 and MDiv. 1998). Rev. Bell resides with his wife, Deborah Johnson Bell, their sons Yeshua D. Bell, and Raytjuan Edwards not of the home.

Rev Bell began his duties as pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church on January 4, 2015, installation service will be held on March 15 at 3 p.m. Pastor Marion Cornelius Potter of Antioch Baptist Church will deliver the installation sermon.
