  1. Learn how to crotchet your own bag: Crotchet lovers can take part in a crotchet class, Knot Again: Let's Make a Bag!, learning how to create and design a granny square bag. Newcomers and those with experience can take part in a review of single and double crotchet techniques and learn to work with granny squares and borders. Participants will meet on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. Registration is required. Call the library at (225) 473-8052 to reserve your spot.
  2. Go to a Mardi Gras boat parade: On Jan. 30 the Krewe of Diversion Mardi Gras boat parade will kick off at the La. 22 bridge by Canal bank club on the Diversion Canal. Registration will begin at noon at Manny's Bar in Maurepas, $35 per boat. Food and St. Jude items will be sold at Manny's. The live auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. or after all participating parade boats are back. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 3. Attend a family festival: St. Elizabeth Hospital is hosting their annual Family Fest, a day dedicated to health and learning. Activities include free screenings and interactive exhibits, free health information and fun activities for children and adults. This event is free and open to the public. Family Fest will be held on Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
