1. Learn about Black History Month: On Feb. 25, in recognition of Black History Month, the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville will host a book presentation from LSU Associate Professor of English Dr. Angeletta Gourdine. Gourdine will present her book, Imagining Black Women in the Age of Michelle Obama, an in-depth look at modern black women and the cultural impact of the First Lady. 2. Take the Plunge for the Special Olympics: On Feb. 27 the annual Polar Plunge, benefitting the Louisiana Special Olympics, will take place at Cabela's lake in Gonzales. The event will include a costume contest, musical entertainment, ice sculptures and giveaway. For more information or to register a team visit www.laso.org
